Sound Hire


Edenfield Communications provides sound systems ranging from simple public address to multi-channel microphone systems for music and/or drama productions.

Systems can be provided for indoor or outdoor locations.

"Self Drive" simple systems can be hired by event organisers to set up and operate themselves.

We provide a "Set-up & train" service where we errect the system but leave you to operate.

Or we do the "Complete service" from set-up to full operation.

Our principal partner is also an experianced commentator for cetain types of event.


"Self Drive" Systems

Or as known in the trade "Dry Hire"

Many events require a simple sound system, which can be set-up by anyone who can wire up their Hi-Fi at home but, which has the power of a professional system.

We supply systems for either use indoors or outdoors.

Indoor Systems

Typically organisers require a system which will enable the Master of Ceremonies to make annoucements and after dinner speeches to be heard by the Audiance. Our systems can not make the jokes any funnier, but at least Grandma may hear the punch line!

We will provide a system with:

  • one or two microphones - which can be Radio mics if required
  • a simple mixer amplifier
  • 2 or 4 speakers on stands
  • a cassette player and/or CD player

Outdoor Systems

The organisers of such events often only need a simple system to let the Grand Opening to be heard, to give a commentry on the Areana Events and announce the results of the Raffle. The difficulty is that the sound needs to be heard the other side of the cricket field with out annoying the residents of the local shelterd housing. Such a system also has to be capable of withstanding the typical summer thunderstorm!

To suit such users we provide systems with:

  • one or two microphones - which can be Radio mics if required e.g. for commentry in the arena.
  • a simple mixer amplifier - which can be run from a battery.
  • 2 to 8 horn all weather speakers on stands. For greater height we can supply a tower.
  • a cassette player and/or CD player
  • kilometers of cable!

DJ Systems

We supply a Professional DJ Mixer, Dual CD Play and if required Turntables, which together with our amplifiers and speaker systems give a powerful sound.

A number of Weddings etc taking place in the area have used this equipment at their celebrations with the visiting DJ only needing to bring his collection of recordings and style to the event.

Additional microphones / radio microphones can also be supplied for speeches.

We can also supply a Lighting System.

"Set-up and train" Systems

Events where the organiser may not be confident that his helpers can safely set-up a system can employ us to setup the system and then train someone to use it for the event.

In particular this might be a good idea for the first year that a system is used for an event as we can from our experiance work out a suitable positioning for speakers, cable runs etc which you can then use in subsequent years as a "self-drive" system.

Equipment for such sytems will be similar to those we would spply for a "self-drive" system.

"Complete Service"

Some events are much more complicated and require a multi microphone system for an orchestra, choir, drama production or are critically important. It would not be very impressive if at the Royal Opening the sound system did not work because no one quite knew how to operate it!

For such events we provide the equipment and sound engineer/s.

The larger systems may require:

  • several types of microphone to suit different instrumentalists / voice
  • a number of radio microphones
  • sound mixer
  • amplifers from 1K - 10K dependant on size of event
  • main speaker stacks
  • foldback system for musicians / singers
  • compessors, graphic equalisers, reverb units etc
  • CD player, Minidisk, cassette player or reel to reel tape

The event may also need prerecorded sound effects, music or messages. All of which we can prepare given sufficient advance notice.

It is important that we are brought into the planning early on for such events. Not only will this ensure that we can provide the right service but, as we have organised many such events oursleves we may also be able to bring other expertise to your assistance.
